Rodolfo E. Chirinos, M.D., M.S., FAAD
Dr. Rodolfo Chirinos is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Chirinos graduated with honors from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and immunology. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico, where he graduated magna cum laude amongst the top five percent of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Chirinos subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He completed his dermatology residency in our nation’s capital at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center where he was honored to serve as chief resident during his final year of residency. Dr. Chirinos completed a National Institutes of Health-sponsored fellowship in cutaneous oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Department of Dermatology, and a fellowship in melanoma research at the Melanoma Center/Washington Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. The melanoma team was the recipient of the President’s Patients First Award, given for outstanding delivery and coordination of care.
Dr. Chirinos is passionate about helping patients improve their quality of life through the treatment of skin conditions. One of his foremost goals as a dermatologist is the accurate and earliest diagnosis of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and particularly malignant melanoma. Dr. Chirinos is particularly concerned with the overall increase in the number of these types of skin cancers, especially in the sunny and active Florida lifestyle, and seeks to prevent the spread of these tumors through early detection and treatment. As a result, he recommends skin cancer screening examinations for all new patients. He is committed to building lasting relationships with his patients and treating all members of the family.
Additional areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of general dermatological needs such as acne, eczema, warts, psoriasis, and autoimmune diseases, and he specializes in treating complex medical dermatology cases as well as contact dermatitis. He continues to stay current with the new guidelines in dermatology to provide the most up to date evidence-based medicine. What Dr. Chirinos enjoys most about dermatology is the ability to stand at the forefront of evolving technology, which allows him to use innovations in the treatment of dermatologic conditions including medications with novel mechanisms of action as well as innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Chirinos enjoys getting to know each of his patients on a personal level. He understands the emotional impact that dermatologic diseases can have on his patients and treats them with compassion and understanding. Dr. Chirinos see patients in our Hallandale and Coconut Creek, FL offices.
Dr. Chirinos is a native South Floridian and is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School who looks forward to taking care of patients from his hometown and the surrounding area. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, fishing, mountain biking, and spending time with family and friends.
