Laser Facial Veins
Facial Veins can vary in size, depth and thickness. There are several lasers and light sources that can be used to treat facial veins depending on these factors.
Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive intense pulse light (IPL) treatment that is used for to treat redness of a vascular origin, including symptoms of rosacea. Photorejuvenation treatments have virtually no down time and most patients experience little to no discomfort. Typically patients require five treatments; however, depending on the severity of the rosacea, additional treatments may be required for optimal improvement. Treatments are spread two to three weeks apart, but are flexible.
The CoolTouch Varia Laser is a 1064 nm wavelength laser used to treat spider veins, and capillaries on the face as well as other areas of the body. The heat of the laser destroys individual vessels while a cryogen spray cools the outer skin. Patients typically feel a rubber-band snap sensation followed by a day or two of redness in the treatment area. Anywhere between one and three treatments may be needed approximately one month apart.
The Pulse Dye laser is also a 585 nm wavelength laser that targets blood vessels on the face and elsewhere while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. The heat of the laser causes coagulation of the blood vessel and thus destroys it. Patients may get bruising on the treated area that usually resolves in a week. This laser also treats port wine stains in babies, children and adults. One to three treatments may be needed spaced one month apart.
With all the new advances in laser technology, there are many options available to treat your facial veins. Your doctor will discuss which treatment options are best suited for you.
