Meet Joel Wiszniak, MD

 

Joel Wiszniak, MD is a board-certified dermatologist with a distinguished background in both dermatology and infectious disease. A native of Paris, France, Dr. Wiszniak earned his medical degree from the University of Paris 6, Pierre et Marie Curie School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his training in the prestigious Assistance Publique health system as an Interne des Hôpitaux de Paris, receiving dual specialty accreditation in Dermatology and Infectious Disease.

Dr. Wiszniak served as Chef de Clinique, providing dermatologic consultation and care at two of Paris’s foremost institutions for infectious disease—the Pasteur Institute Hospital and Claude Bernard Hospital. His clinical experience in these high-profile roles placed him at the intersection of dermatology and infectious disease, helping to shape his comprehensive and nuanced approach to patient care.

In 1985, Dr. Wiszniak moved to the United States, completing his medical accreditation at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, first as a resident and then as an attending physician. In 1988, he relocated to Miami, joining the Dermatology Department at Mount Sinai Medical Center as an Attending Physician, where he was involved in both clinical care and resident education. Two years later, he opened his own private practice, where he has since devoted himself to the long-term care of his patients—many of whom have trusted him with their skin health for over two decades.

Dr. Wiszniak is a member of numerous professional societies and is on staff at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Aventura Hospital. He also serves as the official medical counsel to the French Consulate in Miami. Fluent in French, Spanish, and Hebrew, he is known for his compassionate approach and ability to connect with a diverse patient population.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Wiszniak is an avid reader, a lifelong learner with a passion for languages, and a devoted family man. He and his wife, Rodica, are proud parents of Yona and Ariane, and loving grandparents to Peri, Ryan, and Noah.
