He graduated with honors from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and immunology. He subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Chirinos completed his dermatology residency in Washington D.C., at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center, where he was honored to serve as chief resident during his final year of residency.
He completed a National Institutes of Health-sponsored fellowship in cutaneous oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Department of Dermatology, and a fellowship in melanoma research at the Melanoma Center/Washington Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. During his time there, the melanoma team was the recipient of the President’s Patients First Award for outstanding delivery and coordination of care.
Dr. Chirinos is passionate about helping patients improve their quality of life through the treatment of skin conditions. One of his primary goals as a dermatologist is the earliest and most accurate diagnosis of skin cancers-including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and particularly malignant melanoma. He is especially concerned with the overall increase in the number of these types of skin cancers, particularly within Florida’s sunny and active lifestyle, and is committed to preventing the spread of these tumors through early detection and treatment. For this reason, he recommends skin cancer screening examinations for all new patients. Dr. Chirinos is dedicated to building lasting relationships with his patients and providing care for individuals of all ages.
His additional areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of general dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, warts, psoriasis, and autoimmune diseases. He also specializes in treating complex medical dermatology cases as well as contact dermatitis. Dr. Chirinos remains up to date with the latest clinical guidelines in dermatology and is committed to practicing and providing evidence-based medicine.
What he enjoys most about dermatology is the ability to stand at the forefront of evolving technology, which allows him to use innovations in the treatment of dermatologic conditions, including medications with novel mechanisms of action as well as innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Chirinos values getting to know each of his patients on a personal level and understands the emotional impact that dermatologic diseases and conditions can have on his patients. He currently sees patients in our Hallandale and Coconut Creek, Florida, offices.
A native South Floridian and is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Dr. Chirinos is proud to take care of patients from his hometown and the surrounding area. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, fishing, mountain biking, and spending time with family and friends.
