Meet Sadegh Amini Koves, MD

 

Dr. Sadegh Amini Koves is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive training and international experience, currently practicing in South Miami, Florida. He specializes in medical dermatology, skin cancer prevention and treatment, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Amini Koves earned his Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree in 1989 from the Central University of Venezuela, where he also completed a two-year internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Dermatology, finishing in 1994. He subsequently practiced dermatology in private practice for seven years before relocating to the United States in 2003 to continue his career and pursue board certification in the U.S.

In 2010, Dr. Amini Koves completed a prestigious three-year Clinical Research Fellowship at the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami. He then completed a General Surgery internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2011, followed by a Dermatology Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, where he graduated in 2014. Upon completion of his training, he was honored with the Award for Excellence in Dermatologic Surgery—a recognition of his clinical skill and dedication.

Dr. Amini Koves comes from a distinguished dermatologic lineage: both of his parents were dermatologists trained at New York University in the 1950s. Following in their footsteps, he has made significant academic and clinical contributions to the field. He has delivered more than 50 presentations at national and international dermatologic conferences, authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, and contributed numerous book chapters to dermatology texts worldwide.

He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, International Society of Dermatology, International Dermoscopy Society, Colegio Ibero Latinoamericano de Dermatología (CILAD).
