Renata Ruiz, M.D., FAAD was born in Brazil and moved to the United States when she was 18. After graduating as valedictorian from Boston University, she received her degree in medicine at the University of Massachusetts. She completed her internal medicine internship and dermatology training at Brown University.
Dr. Ruiz provides complete dermatological care, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic. Her research interests focus on the treatment of multi-ethnic skin and diversity within the dermatology field, as reflected in her peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Ruiz is passionate about volunteering, patient education, and advocacy, and is an active member of the Women’s Dermatological Society, the Skin of Color Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology. She has published many dermatological educational pieces in Brazilian magazines and newspapers, participated in radio talk shows raising awareness of dermatological diseases, led free clinics in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and traveled abroad for medical mission trips. In addition to English, Dr. Ruiz is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her family. She also enjoys traveling and has visited over 20 countries.
