What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a new type of a nonsurgical procedure that uses medical ultrasound for cosmetic improvement of the skin. The Ulthera system delivers a low amount of focused ultrasound energy to the skin, at just the right depth to achieve a positive effect, leaving the surface of the skin undisturbed. Your skin’s response to the energy is to stimulate the growth of new collagen for a firmer, tighter and more lifted appearance. This is a no down time procedure and you can usually return to normal activities right away. The regenerative process is initiated right away, but the full effect will build gradually over the course of two to three months.
The procedure does involve some mild discomfort but you do not need anesthesia during the procedure. The treatment can be performed to a variety of areas of the face. This can be advantageous for cosmetic improvement causing for example, the skin on the forehead to improve and lift the eyebrows and thus enhance the appearance of the eyes. In addition, the treatment can be performed on the area of the cheeks to improve the area of the jowls. Only one or two treatments are recommended for most patients, however some patients may require additional treatments.
