We have 3 full time dermatopathologists in our group that review skin samples in our Dermatopathology Lab to deliver biopsy results much quicker than if the samples were to be sent to an outside laboratory.
As a subspecialty of pathology, dermatopathology studies the tissue changes that occur in skin diseases. Through microscopic examination of skin samples (biopsy specimens), our dermatopathologists determine a diagnosis by looking at the structure and composition of the specimens. They observe all layers of the skin: the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis, and the underlying tissues and structures. Dermatopathology has a crucial role in diagnosing autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, degenerative diseases, tumors, etc. The results are then delivered to our offices.
